What’s the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program?
The PSLF program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you’ve made 120 qualifying monthly payments while working in public service—for employees like you.
Do I earn credits during the pause on payments?
Yes! Even with the pause on student loan payments, if you maintained eligible employment, you can still earn credits toward loan forgiveness as though you continued to make monthly payments. Who qualifies for PSLF?
Full-time employees of any U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government agency or non-profit are eligible. Qualifying employers include the U.S. military, public elementary and secondary schools, public colleges and universities, public child and family services agencies, and special governmental districts.
Which loans qualify for PSLF?
Any loan received under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program qualifies for PSLF.
Will I need to consolidate my loans to qualify for PSLF?
